Tiffany Trump proudly announced Thursday that she had given birth to her first child with husband Michael Boulos, a baby boy they named Alexander Trump Boulos.
But in sharing the news on Instagram and X, Donald Trump’s younger daughter adopted the strategy of celebrities who want to come across as being sensitive about not exploiting their children for public consumption.
Instead of publishing a photo that showed little Alexander’s face, Tiffany Trump opted to offer just a glimpse of him, or rather a glimpse of one of his tiny feet, being held in her hand. In true mom celebrity style, Tiffany Trump managed to get a manicure before or after giving birth Wednesday, so that her fingers would showcase long, elegant nails in the photo.
It seems a bit surprising that Tiffany Trump opted for discretion when it came to hiding her baby’s face. After all, little Alexander isn’t just the president’s 11th grandchild, he’s also the newest member of the Trump family enterprise, which also has long included selling New York City real estate, running hotels and starring on reality TV. Trump family kids seem to be groomed from an early age to understand that their parents and grandparents are celebrities and that that they have a role to play in the Trump family brand.
Tiffany Trump’s nieces and nephews — the children of Donald Jr., Ivanka and Eric — have long been featured on their parents’ very active social media accounts.
When Ivanka Trump worked as a senior advisor to their father in his first administration, she became especially well-known for posting carefully staged images of her three children, Arabella, Joseph and Theodore, usually in ways that seemed geared to advance her own professional agenda or the work of the Trump White House.
Ivanka Trump, though, sometimes incited controversy for some of her social media posts of her children. For example, she was accused of being “tone deaf,” “soulless” and a “modern-day Marie Antoinette” when she posted a photo of herself cuddling her then-2-year-old son Theodore in the spring of 2018. This was around the same time that news accounts were pouring in of children being separated from their parents at the U.S. border under a new Trump administration policy to deter immigration.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump Jr.’s oldest daughter, 18-year-old Kai, has positioned herself as an up-and-coming MAGA influencer by regularly sharing Instagram photos and slickly produced videos on social media about the fun she has, hanging out with her beloved “grandpa,” either in the Oval Office or at the recent White House Easter Egg Roll.
For Tiffany Trump’s birth announcement, she seemed to go for the popular approach of just showing a part of her baby — such as the hands or feet. Kylie Jenner perfected this approach in 2018, when she announced the birth of her daughter Stormi by posting a simple photo that focused on the newborn’s hand grabbing her mother’s finger — which, of course, was graced with a beautiful styled nail. Jenner’s post garnered more than 18 million likes, effectively breaking the internet that day, Grazia reported.
Of course, it’s not clear why Jenner seemed so concerned about privacy at that time, given that she’s a member of the Kardashian family. She’s also posted plenty of photos and videos of Stormi, 7, and her brother, Aire, 3, since. Maybe Jenner wanted to cultivate a sense of mystery about her newborn and build anticipation among fans for when she would reveal more.
Tiffany Trump’s post didn’t break the internet but it garnered a healthy 90,000 likes and congratulations from her mother, Marla Maples. “Welcome to the world our sweet baby boy, Alexander Trump Boulos,” Tiffany Trump wrote. “We love you beyond words! Thank you for coming into our lives!”
Tiffany Trump and Boulos got married in November 2022 at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach Florida. Boulos is the son of a wealthy Lebanese family with businesses in Nigeria. The couple began dating in 2018 after meeting at Lindsay Lohan’s club in Mykonos, Greece, and they got engaged in January 2021, at the end of her father’s term as president — and in the wake of the U.S. Capitol riots. They shared the news on social media the day before Trump left office.
