Twenty masked individuals committed an armed robbery at a jewelry store in San Ramon on Monday, authorities said.
Shots were fired by the robbers, but no one was injured.
San Ramon Police say they responded to this “take-over style” armed robbery — “where 20 masked individuals entered the store and began smashing display cases taking numerous items” — at Heller Jewelers, 6000 Bollinger Canyon Road, at 1:50 p.m. on Monday.
Several of the suspects were reportedly armed with handguns — with one of suspects firing off rounds near the entrance to the store, according to authorities.
The suspects fled the scene in multiple vehicles. San Ramon Police initially pursued but then gave up the chase due to “the inherent danger to the public and because air support was overhead and available to continue tracking the suspect vehicle,” according to a news release.
