RICHMOND — A man has been convicted of murder in connection with the 2022 fatal shooting of a Bay Area man, court records show.
Bobby Dee Dozier, 39, was convicted of first-degree murder in the death of Emari Cook, 26, and is set to be sentenced on June 27. Jurors also convicted him of three counts of gun possession, including possessing an assault weapon, court records show.

Dozier has four prior murder arrests, one of which resulted in a manslaughter conviction and 15-year prison term. In 2007, he reportedly killed 42-year-old Oscar Alejandre in Richmond, and was released from prison in 2020, two years before Cook’s death.
On the night of July 14, 2022, Dozier saw Cook near South 49th Street and Cutting Boulevard, called out to him and pulled a gun, prosecutors say. Cook made a last-ditch effort to wrestle the gun away, but Dozier broke free and fired as Cook attempted to run, according to police. Cook was struck in the chest and hand.
Nearby security cameras caught Dozier running into a vehicle, and license plate readers helped track the car’s movements around West Contra Costa. Police later raided Dozier’s Martinez home and found the suspected murder weapon, authorities said.
Dozier was also arrested on suspicion of murder in 2005, but never charged. During the investigation into Cook’s killing, police tied a phone to Dozier that was registered under the name “Freddy Kruger” (sic), according to court records.
