
MOUNTAIN VIEW — A woman died after being struck by a vehicle in a parking lot Saturday afternoon, authorities said.
Police were dispatched to the parking lot of a Walmart Supercenter at 600 Showers Drive shortly before 3:30 p.m. for reports of a vehicle and pedestrian collision, according to a press release from the Mountain View Police Department.
The pedestrian was an 83-year-old woman from Palo Alto, who was conscious when being evaluated by police and firefighters from the City of Mountain View Fire Department, authorities said. The woman was subsequently taken to a hospital for additional evaluation.

She died Monday, authorities added.
The Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office identified her as Gayle Maehara Nakano.
The vehicle’s driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with police, authorities said. Officers do not believe that drugs or alcohol played a role in the collision.
The incident remains under investigation.
