Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies responded around 11:45 p.m. to a call about an assault with a deadly weapon on the 8800 block of Whittier Blvd.
The scene of the shooting was by a 76 gas station, marking it the second fatal shooting at a gas station in Pico Rivera over the last three days. A man was killed on Thursday at a Shell gas station on Rosemead and Washington boulevards.
The two homicides do not appear to be connected, authorities said.
Investigators are still trying to piece together the circumstances surrounding the shooting of the teenager, according to a statement from the sheriff’s department, but they said the crime did not appear to be gang-related.
The victim, who was not identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.
