The collision was reported at 10:13 p.m. near Aldrich Way, north of Aborn Road, according to the San Jose Police Department.

Police said the victim was taken to a hospital and was pronounced dead. Additional details were not immediately released.

South King Road was closed for about two hours between Barberry Lane and Nickel Avenue while traffic investigators examined the crash site.

The collision marks the 21st roadway death of the year in San Jose, and the 11th to involve a pedestrian who died, according to police and data compiled by this news organization.
