
OAKLAND — A 39-year-old man was shot multiple times Sunday night as he was backing his vehicle out of a driveway in the Piedmont Avenue area, authorities said.

The man’s condition was not immediately available.
He was shot around 8:43 p.m. Sunday in the 50 block of MacArthur Boulevard. It was not known if he lived in the area.
Police said he was backing his vehicle out of a driveway when a man got out of another vehicle and shot at him, wounding him more than once.
The shooter then fled on foot. The vehicle he had gotten out of, described as a newer white Toyota Corolla, was driven away by another person, authorities said.
A motive for the shooting is under investigation. No detailed suspect information has been released yet by police.
