
SAN JOSE — Police arrested a suspect Tuesday on suspicion of fatally shooting a man the prior weekend, authorities said Friday.
Enrique Lira, a 29-year-old resident of San Jose, was booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail on suspicion of murder, according to San Jose Police Department press release.

Shortly after 9 p.m. on Sunday, July 27, police responded to reports of a person shot on the 1300 Block of Santee Drive, where officers found a man with at least one gunshot wound, authorities said. The man was taken to a hospital, where he died.
The suspect in the case fled the area before police arrived, authorities added.

While conducting an investigation, SJPD Homicide Unit Detectives identified Lira as the primary suspect, authorities said. Police obtained an arrest warrant and took Lira into custody Tuesday in San Jose.
The shooting marks San Jose’s 16th homicide of the year.
The victim’s identity will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office pending notification of next of kin.
