The survey results were released in June. It was conducted by ETC Institute, a market research company that administers surveys to help local governments gather data. The surveys were sent to a random sample of addresses via mail, phone and online.

Of the approximately 500 residents who submitted surveys, 99% of respondents said Los Gatos was an excellent or good place to live. A whopping 94% of respondents also said Los Gatos was an excellent or good place to raise children. In comparison, the average percentage of respondents who rated the U.S.as a favorable place to live was 49%. On average, only 61% of those surveyed rated the U.S. a good place to raise children. Overall, ratings of Los Gatos improved from 2022 survey results.

While residents rated the quality of life and feeling of safety in the town highly, they were less satisfied with the quality of services and overall value received for taxes and fees paid to the town. The survey reported that residents were most satisfied with the town’s library services, parks and recreation facilities and police services.

According to the survey, the top two most important items to residents are street maintenance and police services. ETC said that the town should invest in planning, building and development services and overall maintenance of streets, sidewalks and infrastructure to improve residents’ satisfaction. They also said that the town could invest in crime prevention and improving the flow of traffic on town streets.
