The shooting happened around 9:05 p.m. in the 1300 block of Santee Drive, said San Jose police Sgt. Jorge Garibay. Officers arrived to find a man suffering from at least one gunshot wound.
Medical personnel took the man to an area hospital, where he died of his injuries, Garibay said.
The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office will release the man’s identity after it is confirmed and his next of kin is notified.
The suspect left the scene before police arrived and remains unidentified, Garibay said. The case, he added, is being investigated as San Jose’s 16th homicide of the year.
