
BRENTWOOD — The driver of a vehicle was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs after their vehicle slammed into a motorcyclist and killed him while he was stopped at a crossroads near downtown early Sunday.
In a news release, Brentwood police said that the collision occurred around 2:08 a.m. at the intersection of Sellers Avenue and Chestnut Street. Police said that a man on a motorcycle had been traveling north on Sellers Avenue and came to a stop at Chestnut Street. Moments later, the motorcycle was struck from behind by a vehicle, also traveling north.

The motorcyclist suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
While the cause of the collision remains under investigation, the driver of the vehicle was suspected of driving under the influence and arrested on a felony charge, police said. Drugs could have been a contributing factor in the fatality, police also said.
