San Jose post office crash: Here’s info for customers impacted by closure

The United States Postal Service building in the 6500 block of Crown Boulevard in South San Jose is temporarily closed after sustaining major damage from a vehicle that was driven into the facility early Sunday morning.

USPS officials say that the Almaden location’s “retail and delivery services will resume as soon as it is safe to do so, and all necessary repairs are complete.”

In the meantime, the USPS has released information explaining how customers affected by the closure can still get their mail and use other services.

Here’s the information:

“On Tuesday, July 22, 2025, mail pick-up for PO Box customers and notice-left mail for customers normally served by the Almaden station will be made available at the Willow Glen Post Office, 1750 Meridian Ave., San Jose, CA 95125. Customers may pick up mail Mon-Sat from 10 a.m.-2  p.m. Retail services will be available Mon-Fri 9 a.m.-5:30 p.m. and Sat. 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Customers are instructed to provide photo ID for all mail pick-up. Retail services are also available at several neighboring stations; you can find a Post Office near you at: https://tools.usps.com/locations/home.htm.”
