Dax Shepard has shared Kristen Bell’s nude downward dog photo before

Dax Shepard and Kristen Bell like to portray themselves as one of Hollywood’s most loved-up and fun-loving couples, which is why no one — except for Gwyneth Paltrow, perhaps — was totally shocked by the unique way he chose to celebrate her Emmy nomination Tuesday.

On Instagram, the actor and “Armchair Expert” podcaster posted a nude photo of his wife in what appears to be their backyard. She was photographed from the back as she was bent over and with one leg raised in a variation of the downward dog yoga pose. Bell, 44, also was just wearing a pair of blue knee socks, and her husband lightly censored the image by pasting a red square over her buttocks.

On Tuesday, Bell, the veteran TV star of such popular series as “Veronica Mars” and “The Good Place,” learned she had received her first-ever Emmy nomination. It was for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for her performance in the Netflix rom-com show “Nobody Wants This.”

“People might not know everything that happens behind the scenes in order to create an Emmy-nominated performance like Kristen’s,” Shepard’s caption read. “This may or may not have been a part of her training, but it felt right. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!”

Celebrity friends chimed in with congratulations and commentary on Shepard’s choice of photo. “Oh my God, Dax,” Paltrow wrote. Actor Nina Dobrev added: “Hahahaha yesssss go girl !suns out buns out for that Emmy!!!”

Bell herself seemed tickled by the photo being shared. She liked Shepard’s post and shared the photo to her Instagram Stories.

But for all the internet’s delight and disbelief about Shepard sharing this eye-popping photo, Page Six noted that he’s shared the image before. He did so four years ago to pay tribute to Bell on Mother’s Day. The couple are parents of daughters Lincoln, 11, and Delta, 9.

“Mom’ing has changed since I was a kid…and I’m here for it,” Shepard captioned the May 2021 post. “Look at this specimen: kind, patient, nurturing, hilarious, Uber talented, generous, hard AND soft.”

Shepard went on to express how much he and the couple’s daughters appreciate their mother.
