
SAN MATEO COUNTY – A driver crashed and nearly plummeted over a cliff Thursday afternoon on the San Mateo County coast, authorities said.

The incident was reported around 2:45 p.m. just south of Grey Whale Cove on Devil’s Slide, according to the Cal Fire San Mateo-Santa Cruz Unit. Crews arrived to find a Tesla dangling over the side of a 200-foot cliff.
“The car was only being supported by a tree,” Cal Fire CZU said in a social media post.
Crews quickly stabilized the car and extricated the lone occupant, according to Cal Fire CZU.
