Driver killed in collision with tree Friday in Concord

CONCORD — A driver crashed into a tree and died Friday afternoon in Concord, police said.

The crash happened around 1:50 p.m. on Kirker Pass Road near Clearbrook Drive, according to the Concord Police Department.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities did not publicly identify the driver Friday.

An investigation determined that the driver was traveling southbound on Kirker Pass Road when their vehicle left the roadway and collided with a tree, police said.

Southbound lanes of Kirker Pass Road were closed until about 4:45 p.m. for an investigation.
