San Jose: Firefighters respond to Tier 2 vegetation fire near Communications Hill

SAN JOSE — Firefighters responded to a Tier 2 vegetation fire near Communications Hill on Sunday afternoon, according to a social media post from the San Jose Fire Department.

Forward progress of the flames was stopped at 5:10 p.m., firefighters said.

East Bay firefighters respond to vegetation fire

The two-acre fire was called in at 4:21 p.m., authorities said. It broke out near Kurte Park.

The blaze began as a Tier 1 fire but was upgraded to Tier 2 at 4:55 p.m. due to challenging access, firefighters added.

Authorities asked people to avoid the area. The fire affected traffic.
