It’s the eve of the Nintendo Switch 2 launch, and while several stores will be holding midnight parties, one spot will be holding a special celebration and will sell units on June 4. The Nintendo Store San Francisco will be holding an event for the system from 1 to 6 today.
The event will be a first-come, first-serve, and a Warp Pipe Pass will not be needed. At the pre-celebration event, attendees will be able to play “Mario Kart World Knockout Tour race” and check out other launch titles. The event will also have photo-ops as well. Unfortunately, those who are going won’t be able to purchase the console.

That’s reserved for people who have Warp Pipe Passes for special shopping sessions. That begins at 9 p.m., which coincides with the East Coast launch of the system in New York. Over the course of the next few weeks, the Nintendo Store will be offering up more special shopping sessions to buy a Nintendo Switch 2, but it will be done via a lottery system.
It runs from June 17 to June 22, and the lottery to join it opened this week and it closes at 7:59 a.m. June 10. You can check out the details here.
As for today’s event, Nintendo said, “It is recommended to not begin lining up for the event until 12:30 p.m. Capacity is limited.” It’s uncertain whether people will abide by that advice, though.
