Roseville motorcyclist dies in East Bay freeway collision

OAKLAND — A motorcyclist was killed Sunday afternoon in a multi-vehicle collision on Interstate 80, authorities said

He was identified by the coroner’s bureau on Monday as Kevin Jellison, 58, of Roseville.

The California Highway Patrol said that according to initial reports, about 2;30 p.m. Sunday the motorcyclist, who was riding a Honda VT model, and a Toyota Prius, a Tesla model S and a Suburu Crosstrek were involved in a collision on eastbound I-80 west of Powell Street.

Additional details about the collision have not been released as the investigation is continuing.

Jellison died at the scene. There were no reports of any other injuries.

All the vehicle drivers remained at the scene and were cooperating with investigators, the CHP said, adding that at this time alcohol or drugs do not appear to be factors.

The CHP said three freeway lanes closest to the center divider were shut down at approximately 2:52 p.m. and reopened at 4:19 p.m. during the investigation
