No. 1 De La Salle 36, St. Mary’s-Stockton 7
De La Salle’s defense allowed just 130 yards and running back Duece Jones-Drew rushed for two touchdowns as the Spartans (5-0) remained undefeated with a win over Sac-Joaquin Section powerhouse St. Mary’s-Stockton. Nathan Canilao has the complete details here.
No. 2 Archbishop Riordan 47, No. 12 St. Francis 28
Michael Mitchell Jr., a Vanderbilt commit, completed 17 of 30 passes for 363 yards and four touchdowns as Riordan rallied in the fourth quarter to win at St. Francis for the first time since 1971. Mitchell now has 17 touchdown passes against one interception this season and has 95 touchdown passes in his career as a four-year starter. David Kiefer has the game story here.
No. 3 Pittsburg 41, Marin Catholic 20
After a slow first-quarter start, host Pittsburg exploded for 34 points in the second and third quarters to defeat North Bay heavyweight Marin Catholic. Arizona-bound wide receiver RJ Mosley turned in a monster performance, catching eight passes for 124 yards and a touchdown. Seniors King Wade and Truly Bell each caught scores while junior Jari Alexander rushed for a team-high 62 yards and a touchdown. Pittsburg (4-1) will finish non-league play in the South Bay next week when the Pirates travel to Los Gatos. – Nathan Canilao
No. 4 Acalanes 56, Mt. Diablo 0
Josh Elerts had 15 carries for 180 yards and three touchdowns – plus scored on two two-point conversions and had a sack – to help lead visiting Acalanes to nonleague rout of Mt. Diablo. Tyler Winkles threw for 284 yards and four touchdowns – three to River Lockwood, covering 115 yards – and Finley Rivera caught three passes for 95 yards and a touchdown. He also intercepted a pass. Deonte Littlejohn added 80 yards and a touchdown in eight carries and Grant Condy and Rivera led the defense with six tackles apiece as Acalanes improved to 5-0. Mt. No. 7 San Ramon Valley 44, Hayward 7
SRV made quick work of visiting Hayward, rolling over the Farmers on homecoming night. Cole Dawes threw three touchdown passes – two to Colton Fitzgibbon and one to Max Lianides. Owen Power rushed for a 20-yard score and returned an interception 100 yards to cap off a stellar defensive night for the Wolves. Maurice Hall led Hayward with 65 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries while LaMont McDonald caught three passes for 55 yards. SRV (3-2) will host Granada next week while Hayward (2-3) will have a bye. – Nathan Canilao
No. 8 California 28, No. 5 McClymonds 20
Cal stamped itself as a postseason contender with a commanding win over the Oakland power. The Grizzlies never relinquished control of the game despite fumbling away a chance to go up three scores. Christian Babcock has the story here.
No. 15 Archbishop Mitty 37, No. 13 St. Ignatius 23
Lazaro Faraj-Washington rushed for 234 yards as Mitty snapped an eight-game losing streak to WCAL rival St. Ignatius with a victory in San Francisco. Mitty improved to 3-1, 1-0. SI is 1-3, 0-1. Evan Webeck has the complete recap here.
No. 14 Menlo School 50, Northgate 28
Jack Freehill’s touchdown pass to JayAr Davis with 34 seconds left in the first half broke a 14-14 tie and sent Menlo School on its way to a road victory over Northgate in Walnut Creek. Micah Anum’s 10-yard run had evened the score 15 seconds before the Freehill’s TD pass to Davis. Freehill scored on a 33-yard run for a 7-0 lead and threw a 45-yard TD pass to Trevor van der Pyl to put the visitors on top 14-7. Merrick Ward’s two touchdowns in the second half pushed the lead to 35-14 and Freehill’s second TD pass to van der Pyl made it 42-21. Max Cantrell threw for 188 yards and two TDs for Northgate, both to Dax Gordon, who caught seven passes for 98 yards. Northgate’s Thomas Borbely scored on a 90-yard kickoff return and Bryce Ballard had six receptions for 82 yards. The Broncos fell to 2-3. – Darren Sabedra
No. 22 Liberty 31, No. 16 Clayton Valley 13
Eastern Washington-bound running back Jaxon Bell rushed for four touchdowns in a dominant performance on the road by the Brentwood school. Liberty led 28-0 after three quarters. Clayton Valley star Jhadis Luckey had a rushing touchdown late in the game, but it didn’t matter as Liberty avenged last season’s loss to the Ugly Eagles. Clayton Valley (2-3) opens Diablo Athletic League Foothill Division play next week against Las Lomas. Liberty (4-1) has a bye next weekend. – Nathan Canilao
No. 18 Salesian 42, Oakland Tech 35
Tyler Sadler rushed for three touchdowns to lead Salesian to a win in a hard-fought game at Oakland Tech. Basketball star Carlton Perrilliat Jr. caught two touchdown passes and fellow hoops standout Jahlil Lindsey reeled in another as Salesian remained undefeated through four games. The Pride will wrap up non-league play at Ygnacio Valley and Oakland Tech (1-3) is scheduled to visit Pinole Valley next week. – Nathan Canilao
No. 19 Sacred Heart Cathedral 71, Bellarmine 14
Bellarmine had a rude welcome to West Catholic Athletic League play as SHC built a 57-14 halftime lead on the Bells at San Jose City College. Jackson Morales threw a TD to Miles Crooks and Xavier Hamilton ran in a TD for Bellarmine (2-2, 0-1). SHC (3-1, 1-0) racked up 743 yards of total offense. Jayden Crane and Michael Sargent split time at QB – Crane went 14 of 17 for 254 yards and five TDs, and Sargent was 8 of 9 for 174 yards and a pair of scores. Legend Williams ran for 130 yards and a score on five carries. Chase Jenkins caught six passes for 178 yards and two TDs. Zion Secrease had six catches for 150 yards and two more scores. — Christian Babcock
No. 20 Santa Teresa 51, Oak Grove 0
The visiting Saints built a massive lead with nine minutes to play in the second quarter, inducing a running clock against former South Bay power Oak Grove. Sal Guerrero tossed three first-half TD passes, two to AJ Rangel (35 and 25 yards) and one to Prince Collins (55 yards) on the first play from scrimmage. Brian Caldwell (42 yards) and Jaylen Malcom (50 yards) each had long TD runs. Backup QB Jacob Vega found Syncere Smith for a 23-yard TD later in the game. Joziah Alama and Isaiah Mariscal had fumble recoveries for the Saints (5-0). Oak Grove dropped to 0-4. — Christian Babcock
No. 23 Monte Vista 59, College Park 36
Henry Laske ran for three touchdowns and Ian Ondricek threw for two as Monte Vista rolled to a nonleague victory on the road over College Park. The Mustangs led 21-7 after one quarter and 31-14 at halftime as they improved to 4-1. Ethan Havens threw four of College Park’s five touchdown passes. Ethan Pidkova had the other. East Bay
Amador Valley 49, Foothill 25
Vincent Maiorana rushed for six touchdowns to lead Amador Valley to a victory — its first this season — at home over crosstown rival Foothill in the battle of Pleasanton. Maiorana’s scoring runs of 47, 13 and 47 yards gave the Dons a 22-0 lead after one quarter. Maiorana’s 5-yard TD run and Nicco Kovacs’ pass to Tyson Jetter on the two-point play made it 30-7 at halftime. Maiorana scored on runs of 3 and 23 yards in the second half as Amador Valley improved to 1-4. Foothill (3-2) scored in the first half on a 12-yard pass from Gavin Brown to Max Shuga. Brown threw a 9-yard TD pass to Ethan Enright to make it 30-13 and Kevin Li reeled in a 50-yard scoring pass from Andrew Nelson to cut the margin to 36-19. — Darren Sabedra
Livermore 27, Heritage 14
Trailing by a point entering the fourth quarter, Livermore rallied on the road in Brentwood to remain undefeated. Quarterback Mateo Lortie’s nine-yard touchdown pass to Luke Mederos and a two-point conversion toss to AJ Carey gave Livermore a seven-point lead. Later in the final quarter, Carey gave the Cowboys a two-score advantage with a 35-yard touchdown run. Lortie threw for two touchdowns and kicker Elijah Delgado knocked in two field goals. Livermore (5-0) travels to California next week for a matchup of undefeated teams. Heritage dropped to 0-5. – Nathan Canilao
Windsor 59, Miramonte 21
Jonah Imberg scored on a 50-yard touchdown run and Andrew Bjornson had a 73-yard scoop and score, but the contributions weren’t enough as Miramonte lost on the road to North Bay powerhouse Windsor. David Roman added a touchdown reception and recovered a fumble for Miramonte, which also got a forced fumble from Hayden Kurtzman. The Mats fell to 3-2. Windsor (5-0) led 38-0 at halftime. – Darren Sabedra
South Bay/Peninsula
Branham 51, Piedmont Hills 15
Branham (4-1) led 51-8 at halftime as it improved to 3-0 this season against opponents from the BVAL Santa Teresa-Foothill and Valley divisions, winning by an average margin of 27 points. Michael Murphy ran in three TDs and caught another. Andrew Ho had three passing scores. Brayden Harris went over 150 all-purpose yards. Maayan Grinstein caught a TD and Jude Handa ran one in. Diego Arias returned a kickoff 89 yards for a score to get Piedmont Hills (2-2) on the board. Kyle Hughes caught a 7-yard TD from John Palomo. Alexavier Rivera snagged a 2-point conversion, and Cash Martinez converted his lone PAT. — Christian Babcock
Christopher 28, Overfelt 6
The Cougars picked up a nice bounce-back win after a close loss at Willow Glen last Friday. Senior Kordell Crocker was the defensive player of the game for Christopher, grabbing three interceptions to give the Cougars (3-2) ample opportunities to score. Sophomore Adrian Leon snagged a pick and returned it 95 yards for a TD. Offensively, Leon added 73 yards on the ground and two TDs. Sophomore QB Dylan Robinson went 8 of 14 for 78 yards and rushed for 23 yards and a score. Senior Brady Hemeon had 39 rush yards in a supplementary role and added 11 tackles. Junior Ryan Holt caught five passes for 73 yards. Junior Dominic Marini compiled 10 tackles, two for loss. Freshman Junior Medina gained 51 yards on 11 carries for Overfelt (2-2). — Christian Babcock
Lincoln-San Jose 47, Del Mar 21
Once again, Lincoln’s offense ran through Kyan Phillips, who ran through Del Mar’s defense for four total TDs. The Lions’ star had four rushes for 22 yards and a score, two catches – both TDs – for 56 yards and a 31-yard punt return TD. Lucas Martinez rushed four times for 20 yards and caught a 31-yard pass. Michael Whitelaw had two catches for 33 yards and a TD. Jaymes Purvis added an 18-yard TD catch. Luca Papoulias completed 7 of 12 passes for 154 yards and four TDs. Leo Molina converted 5 of 7 PATs. Junior QB Diego Lopez made his first career start for Del Mar, passing for 97 yards and running for 33. Aiden Rock ran for 97 yards and a TD on 10 carries. John Battles caught three passes for 31 yards. Leo Aleman carried six times for 24 yards and a TD. David Balde had a rushing score as well. — Christian Babcock
Live Oak 36, Pioneer 21
Gage Jones ran in four touchdowns and Praise God Ofobuike caught a TD pass as Live Oak handled Pioneer in San Jose to remain unbeaten at 5-0. Braeden Ries completed 9 of 21 passes for 164 yards and two TDs for Pioneer. Colton Bermillo carried 10 times for 46 yards and a score for the Mustangs, who fell to 1-3. Joshua Fisher caught three passes for 59 yards and a TD, and Connor Christensen snagged a touchdown as well for Pioneer. — Christian Babcock
MacDonald 14, Homestead 7
MacDonald remained unbeaten despite what coach Burt Codera dubbed a “sloppy, turnover-filled game.” The visiting Condors improved to 5-0 and 1-0 in the Peninsula Athletic League’s Lake Division after getting rushing scores from John Leonard (seven yards) and quarterback Moussa Fall (one yard). Kush Patel went 2 for 2 on PATs for MacDonald. Homestead scored on Carson Chang’s pass to David Robu. Chang finished 10-of-19 passing for 142 yards and Robu caught three passes for 74 yards. Will Hamburger had four sacks and five tackles for loss. Homestead dropped to 2-2 overall and 0-2 in the PAL Lake. — Christian Babcock

Yerba Buena 26, Independence 23
Nathan Tran, Colin Tengson and Joseph Silva scored touchdowns Thursday to help Yerba Buena get past Independence and move into first place in the Blossom Valley Athletic League West Valley Division. In addition to his receiving touchdown, Tengson also scored on a two-point conversion. Silva scored on a jet sweep. Michael Montoya and Jason Phan had interceptions. Kevin Tu picked up tough yards at running back. Yerba Buena (3-2, 2-0) hosts San Jose and Independence (1-3, 0-1) plays at Prospect on Friday. — Glenn Reeves
Woodside 56, Santa Clara 6
Woodside wrapped up nonleague play by doing what it consistently has over the past five weeks – routing teams from around the Bay Area. The Wildcats (5-0) scored in all phases. QB Charlie Dalrymple tossed a TD pass to Grady Furtado, Daniel Torres ran in two TDs, Evan Frampton rushed for two TDs, Max Hua had a pick-six and Alex Valencia ran in a TD. Kolby Nelson had an interception, and Isaac Peck, Carlos Hatu and Hua had sacks. Santa Clara fell to 2-3. — Christian Babcock
