San Jose: Motorcyclist dies in collision on Branham Lane

SAN JOSE — A motorcyclist died in a vehicle collision in South San Jose on Thursday night, police said.

The crash with a car was reported at 8:25 p.m. on Branham Lane near Jarvis Avenue, according to the San Jose Police Department.

The motorcycle rider, described only as an adult, was taken to the hospital with major injuries and was pronounced dead, police said.

A minor who was riding in the car was also taken to the hospital with what were described as injuries that were not life threatening, police said. The driver stopped at the collision site.

Additional details were not immediately released Friday morning. The collision marks the city’s 27th roadway death of the year.

It was also the third of the year, and the second in less than a week, to involve a motorcyclist who died. On Sept. 20, a 24-year-old San Jose man died when he was riding a motorcycle on Ocala Avenue and the driver of a minivan made a turn into his path.
