Burglars steal musical instrument, shotgun shells from Saratoga residence

Residential burglary: Between June 1 and 12, someone entered an unoccupied residence under construction in the 20000 block of Verde Vista Lane and stole personal effects and tax documents of unknown value.

Shoplifting: On Sept. 3, someone entered CVS in the Argonaut Center on Saratoga-Sunnyvale Road and stole merchandise valued at approximately $887.

Theft by false pretenses, identity theft: Someone called a Saratoga resident about an online inquiry the victim made regarding a house for rent, convinced the victim to provide personal information and money to secure the rental, and then ceased communications with the victim, for a total loss of about $5,050.

Reckless evading: At 1:47 a.m., deputies attempted to stop a motorist at Saratoga Avenue and Highway 85 for multiple traffic violations, but the driver did not yield and recklessly evaded, and the pursuit was ultimately terminated in the interest of public safety.

Sept. 18

Theft by false pretenses: A Saratoga resident reported that someone convinced them to invest money in a fraudulent cryptocurrency scheme for a total loss of about $897,000.

Sept. 21

Residential burglary: Between Sept. 19 and 21, someone entered a residence in the 19000 block of Cox Avenue and stole a musical instrument and shotgun shells for a loss valued at approximately $1,300.
