The incident happened at about 1:45 a.m. Wednesday in the northbound lanes near the San Antonio Road overcrossing, where a van crashed into a construction truck and the worker, CHP Officer Alex Ochoa said. The worker suffered major injuries. The Ford van sustained major damage, the CHP reported.

The crash blocked the northbound lanes. The CHP diverted traffic to the shoulder and called in an investigative team that specializes in major collisions.

The conditions of the worker and the van driver were not immediately available. A spokesperson for Caltrans, which has been conducting overnight work in the area this month for the Marin-Sonoma Narrows project, referred inquiries to the CHP.

Police had the northbound lanes back open by about 7:30 a.m. The crash remains under investigation.
