Successful Saratogans highlighted at history museum

Successful Saratogans

The Saratoga History Museum’s new exhibit, “What Are You Going To Be When You Grow Up,” tells the stories of over 50 notable Saratoga residents.

These residents were chosen based on lists of people that Saratoga, Prospect and Lynbrook high schools determined were successful, which include Speedcubers, chess masters, actors and more.

The exhibit will be up until Nov. 15. The museum is open on Fridays and Sundays, 1-4 p.m., and Saturdays, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Admission is free. The museum is located at 20450 Saratoga-Los Gatos Road.

Passport services

People who want to obtain or renew their passports can now schedule appointments for services at the Saratoga Library.

The Saratoga Library is the fifth branch in the Santa Clara County Library District to become an official passport acceptance facility. County libraries in Milpitas, Cupertino, Los Altos and Gilroy already provide passport services and have processed almost 40,000 passport applications.

Services include first-time passports for adults and children; replacement of lost, stolen or damaged passports; renewal of passports issued before the person was 16 years old; and renewal of expired passports issued over 15 years ago. Passport photo services are also available.

“Our passport facilities offer weekday, weekend and evening hours, giving residents more opportunities to come in and get a passport,” said County Librarian Jennifer Weeks. “This is convenient to accommodate busy schedules for those who need flexibility to get a passport before their next international trip.”

To make an appointment, visit sccld.org/passport. Appointments must be reserved online and can be made up to two months in advance.

Passport applications usually take four to six weeks to be processed. For an additional cost, applications can be processed in two to three weeks.

Passport hours at Saratoga Library are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Sundays, Wednesdays and Thursdays and 1-8 p.m. on Mondays and Tuesdays.
