
SAN JOSE — Super Micro Computer bought an office and research building in north San Jose in a deal that widens the tech company’s property holdings in the South Bay.
Through an all-cash deal, the company paid about $13.3 million for the site at 1321 Ridder Park Dr. near Brokaw Road, according to documents filed on Sept. 10 with the Santa Clara County Recorder’s Office.

Jafar Fini, an individual, was the seller in the transaction, county records show.
Constructed in 1984, the building totals 35,200 square feet and occupies a 2.9-acre parcel, according to information posted on Property Shark. It is a few blocks from the main Super Micro Computer campus at 980 Rock Ave.
The transaction was the most recent in a series of real estate purchases by Super Micro Computer in north San Jose in recent years. The company has been using the property deals to fashion three distinct tech campuses in the area.
In 2013, it completed a deal to buy a large site at 750 Ridder Park Dr. that at that time contained the headquarters, news, and printing operations of the San Jose Mercury News. Super Micro Computer paid $30.5 million for that site, which included empty land.
In 2021, the tech company opened the first building at the 750 Ridder Park site as the forerunner of what is evolving into a Green Computing Campus. Super Micro Computer will manufacture advanced storage and server equipment at the campus. The gear will be used to support artificial intelligence and machine-learning technologies.
In February, the company paid $80 million to buy a 19.7-acre site whose most notable prior occupant was a Mayan-themed Fry’s Electronics store at 550 East Brokaw Ave. that closed in 2021.
Super Micro Computer has decided to build a campus with potentially wide-ranging uses at the 550 East Brokaw site, including advanced manufacturing activities.
The Brokaw Road campus is expected to total about 3 million square feet when fully built out. The first phase is slated to be a building that totals 333,400 square feet.
That building would be just the start of a new campus that is expected to total about 3 million square feet when fully completed. It’s possible that 12,000 to 15,000 people could work at the Brokaw Road campus, depending on the employee-square footage ratios for the workspaces.
