When handsome Hollywood prince Patrick Schwarzenegger married his beautiful model girlfriend Abby Champion last weekend, the star-studded guest list revealed that hard feelings and complicated dynamics persist among his famous parents, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver, and their four children.
That’s because Joseph Baena, “The White Lotus” star’s half brother, was not invited to his wedding in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, according to TMZ. Baena, 27, is Arnold Schwarzenegger’s fifth child, born after he had an affair with the family’s housekeeper, Mildred Patricia Baena, while he was still married to Shriver.

Sources told TMZ that Baena, who has become a bodybuilder like his father, “wasn’t invited” to his older half-brother’s wedding. However, Patrick’s other siblings were there: Katherine, 35, Christina, 34, and Christopher, 27, along with Katherine’s movie star husband, Chris Pratt.
Sources told the outlet that Baena was left off the guest list since he “has no relationship with that side of the Schwarzenegger fam.”
News broke of Schwarzenegger’s affair and of his son’s existence in May 2011, shortly after the one-time Mr. Universe and Hollywood action star left office after serving as California’s governor for eight years. Shriver filed for divorce upon learning of the affair, ending a 25-year marriage that united Hollywood celebrity with the Kennedy political dynasty, according to the New York Post.
Since then, the “Terminator” actor has publicly welcomed Baena as his son, paid for his education and been photographed with him working out, with a source telling Page Six in June that he is “really close” to his lookalike son.

But Schwarzenegger admitted to People in 2023 that the affair that led to his birth was his “(expletive) up.” Schwarzenegger said he took the blame for Shriver’s decision to divorce him and told their children that he caused the breakup of their family. “We always made it very clear that the kids should not suffer because of (my affair),” Schwarzenegger added.
Because of these circumstances, it appears that Schwarzenegger and Shriver’s children have not built a relationship with their half-brother, according to the New York Post. In fact, a source told Page Six in 2023 that Baena has a good relationship with his father, but not with his half-siblings.
“The other kids don’t love Joe,” the source said. “It’s a shame as he’s a really good kid, and Arnold has always treated him like all his other kids — very fairly. But for whatever reason, the other kids take (the affair) out on Joe,” the source added.

This tension played out as recently as June when Schwarzenegger invited all five of his children — Baena, included — to the Season 2 premiere of “FUBAR,” his Netflix spy action-comedy series. But at the Los Angeles premiere, Baena’s half-siblings appeared to snub him on the red carpet by not posing for photos with him. They and Chris Pratt would only be photographed with Schwarzenneger without Baena, while Baena had to content himself with just being photographed with his father.
When Baena shared photos from the premiere on social media, one of his followers replied: “It’s disgusting how you are treated, man, by your own blood. Completely ignored due to something out of your control. Is it racial hostility? Who knows. At the end of the day use this (expletive) to fuel you.”
The Page Six source agreed “it’s not fair” for Baena to be treated in this way, “but I guess it’s understandable — he’s the product of something that should not have occurred.”
Another source insisted to Page Six: “The Schwarzenegger kids have consistently navigated the situation with respect and class.”
Baena hasn’t said anything publicly about being sidelined by his half-siblings. But he explained in a British TV interview in March that he has tried, as much as possible, to avoid the nepo baby label that’s attached itself to his half-siblings. He said he wants to make his own way in life, which is one reason he didn’t adopt his father’s surname.
“I think the main thing is I’m trying to do things on my own,” Baena told Good Morning Britain, according to Page Six. “I think it’s really important growing up as a man to do things on your own. To figure it out, that’s what I’ve been doing.”
