The Valkyries have activated forward Cecilia Zandalasini from injury and have waived center Elizabeth Kitley, the team announced on Monday.
Zandalasini has missed the last eight games with a left calf injury she suffered just minutes before the Valkyries’ game against the Phoenix Mercury on Aug. 19. Zandalasini is questionable to play in tomorrow’s game against the Seattle Storm.
According to a release from the team, Zandalasini will be evaluated on a day-to-day basis.
Kitley did not appear in a game with Golden State since getting signed last week to a hardship contract.

Prior to her injury, Zandalasini was in the midst of her best scoring stretch of the season. In the nine games she played after the All-Star break, the Italian sharpshooter was averaging 13 points per game on 50% shooting from the field and 48.9% from the 3-point line.
Zandalasini has been effective this year when she has been on the floor, but she has played in just 17 games this season.

Zandalasini was plagued with injuries early in the season, missing all of training camp and the team’s first four games. She left Golden State to participate in the EuroBasket tournament in June and returned just before the All-Star break. Zandalasini then missed three games in late July and early August with a left foot injury.
The Valkyries will look to Zandalasini to provide more forward depth as they try to finish out the regular season. Golden State could clinch the sixth seed with a win at Seattle on Tuesday.
