Welcome to the Bay Area News Group (Mercury News & East Bay Times) girls Athlete of the Week poll.
For the entire academic year, we will provide a list of candidates who stood out over the previous week and allow you, the reader, to vote for the winner.
This week, we consider performances from Aug. 25-30.
Polls close at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
Vote as many times as you’d like until then without using bots or any other artificial methods of voting.
Votes by email and after 5 p.m. Wednesday are not counted.

Winners are announced each Friday online and in the print edition of the Mercury News and East Bay Times sports sections.

We accept nominations until 11 a.m. each Monday.

On to the nominees:
Samantha Botell, Dublin flag football: The senior went 10 of 14 through the air against KIPP King, passing for 136 yards and four touchdowns in a 41-12 win. She added 75 yards passing in a loss to San Ramon Valley.
Ellie Eisenhauer, Monte Vista flag football: The freshman had seven tackles and a pass deflection in a 13-6 win over Alhambra. She added three tackles and two sacks in a 13-6 defeat to Dougherty Valley and two tackles, a sack, an interception and a touchdown in a 37-0 win over Hayward.
Katelyn Elliott, Carlmont cross country: The junior had a wire-to-wire win at the ASICS Cool Breeze Invitational in Pomona, clocking a time of 17:27.1 at the three-mile race to breeze past the field. She helped Carlmont to a third-place team finish with her performance, which was 16 seconds faster than the second-place finisher.
Annaliyah Felix, Andrew Hill flag football: The senior passed for 108 yards and three touchdowns in a season-opening 24-0 win over Independence.
Kalliana Flora, Santa Clara flag football: The sophomore had 184 receiving yards on nine catches and a touchdown in a 20-19 loss to The King’s Academy. She added 106 rushing yards, 72 receiving yards and four total touchdowns in a 49-0 win over MacDonald.
Marin Lnenicka, Granada flag football: The senior had 72 yards rushing on five carries and seven tackles in a loss to Foothill, then added 79 receiving yards and four more tackles in a win over Milpitas.
Gillian Mabilin, MacDonald volleyball: The junior had seven kills, seven digs, six aces and six successful serve receives as MacDonald swept Stratford Prep 3-0 in its season opener.
Natalie Miyamoto, Hercules flag football: The senior had four interceptions, including two returned for touchdowns, in opening-week games against Arroyo, Pinole Valley and Bethel. She also added two touchdown receptions on offense.
Elle Obenour, Leigh field hockey: The senior, who has signed with Indiana, scored three goals to lead Leigh in a 6-0 season-opening win over Los Altos.
Quinn Pierce, Liberty water polo: The sophomore scored three goals and had an assist, four steals and a field block in Liberty’s 15-4 win over James Logan. She also won a sprint to the ball to start the quarter.
Paige Purcell, Los Gatos flag football: The sophomore intercepted two passes and added five tackles, 17 receiving yards and 10 rushing yards as Los Gatos beat Branham 13-0 to open its season.
Abigail Purvey, Mills volleyball: The junior middle hitter compiled 45 kills across seven matches as Mills opened its season with matchups against Carlmont, Priory and Burlingame and a trip to the Half Moon Bay tournament. She has hit at an efficient .301 mark so far.
