
SAN JOSE — A vehicle driven by an allegedly drunk driver crashed into a downtown building Thursday night, authorities said.
Officers responded to the collision, which was on the 50 block of Post Street, around 10:43 p.m., authorities said.
Authorities found an adult male driver and an adult female passenger, both of whom suffered severe injuries.
The driver of the vehicle was “heavily intoxicated” and the incident is being investigated as a collision due to driving under the influence, according to the San Jose Police Department.

The driver and passenger were taken to a local hospital, police said. They were in critical but stable condition.
Officers found in their preliminary investigation that the passenger was also heavily intoxicated. They added there is no evidence that the collision was intentional.
It was not immediately clear if the incident would affect a planned event for Friday evening, unveiling a new mural as part of the city’s LGBTQ-centered Qmunity district.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing, authorities added.
