Celebrated on the first Monday of September, Labor Day recognizes the achievements of workers across the United States. Except for memorial events and marching activities to celebrate the contributions of workers, Labor Day is one of the major shopping weekends in the U.S.; many retailers offer special deals and back-to-school promotions.

Walmart: 6 a.m.-11 p.m.
Trader Joe’s: 8 a.m.-9 p.m.
Whole Foods Market: 8 a.m.-10 p.m.
Safeway: 5 a.m.-midnight
Costco: Closed
Target: 8 a.m.-10 p.m.
Macy’s: 10 a.m.-9 p.m.
Home Depot: 6 a.m.-10 p.m.
Lowe’s: 6 a.m.-10 p.m.
