Families and children can also meet the teams who operate them, including Milpitas police, fire, public works and sanitation personnel. Vehicles and staff from American Medical Response, Milpitas Unified School District and Unique Towing will be on hand, and Game Action will provide a state-of-the-art video game truck. There will be free giveaways, games and more for all ages as supplies last.

Bay Area Older Adults is hosting events in September to get folks out near the shore where it’s cooler and to help clean up the city.
Birders can take a leisurely two-mile expert-led flat walk out at Shoreline Lake Park on Sept. 10, 7:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., to see the shorebirds that inhabit the salt marsh, salt ponds, sloughs and mudflats. Binoculars can be borrowed.
A Guadalupe River Cleanup Day is set for Sept. 18, 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Volunteers should be prepared to be standing up for the duration of the event. Supplies and tools will be provided in addition to snacks, lunch and a bottle of water.
Learn about the Don Edwards Wildlife Refuge and its history, including the endangered species it protects and the different habitats it contains, on a a leisurely three-mile expert-led flat walk on Sept. 24, 8:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
