Pleasanton Police removed alleged explosive devices from a house after arresting a Pleasanton man for allegedly fatally shooting another man Friday night.
Police said Saturday in a news release that 29-year-old Lucas Chan reportedly fatally shot a man around 9:40 p.m. Friday in the 4600 block of Helpert Court. Officers arrived and found the victim suffering at least one gunshot wound, and attempted to provide medical assistance. The man died later at a local hospital, police said.
Police did not release the victim’s identity Saturday morning.
Detectives also located “suspicious devices,” described as “possible improvised explosive devices,” inside Chan’s residence, police said.
Police also said there is “no ongoing threat to the community,” and that records show “no significant history at the location of the incident.”
Chan was booked into Santa Rita Jail on Saturday morning on suspicion of homicide, possession and making an explosive device, and manufacturing or selling a large capacity magazine, according to jail records.
He is scheduled for an arraignment at 9 a.m. on Wednesday in the East County Hall of Justice Department 702 in Dublin.
Police said they will provide an update on this investigation sometime next week.
