The episode happened between midnight and 1:30 a.m. on May 18 on the Ohlone Greenway, between Hill Street and Blake Street, according to the El Cerrito Police Department.

The suspect met the victim at the Del Norte BART station before abducting and sexually assaulting her, police said.

On Tuesday, detectives identified the suspect as an 18-year-old Richmond man after receiving a notification from the Combined DNA Index System, according to police.

Police said a Contra Costa County Superior Court judge signed a warrant for the man’s arrest, and on Wednesday, detectives and officers took him into custody as he left the courthouse in Martinez after making an appearance in an unrelated case.

The man was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility on the warrant. His bail was set at $1.53 million.

The case will be forwarded to the district attorney’s office for review, according to police.
