Long Beach police responded to the single-vehicle crash in the area of Carson Street and San Anseline Drive just after 1:15 a.m. Monday, Aug. 11, and learned that a “domestic violence incident” led to the crash, police said Wednesday.

The man was driving and a passenger, identified as Marilyn Maybe Briseno, 28, of Huntington Park, was determined to be the suspect, police said.

While police were investigating, Briseno attempted to leave while being detained and allegedly assaulted an officer, police said.

She was booked into jail on suspicion of misdemeanor domestic violence and assault on a peace office, police said. She was released later Monday morning after posting $20,000 bond, inmate records show.

The Long Beach officer did not sustain any injuries, police said.

Briseno has worked for the Los Angeles Police Department since August 2023 and is currently assigned as an officer to the department’s Wilshire Division, spokeswoman Officer Rosario Cervantes said.
