SAN MATEO — A woman was arrested Wednesday for attempting to strike a security guard with her vehicle twice in a parking lot, authorities said.

The woman, a 31-year-old resident of San Bruno, was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and evading an officer, according to a press release from the San Mateo Police Department.

When police arrived, the driver refused to get out of her vehicle, authorities said. She allegedly reversed into a police patrol vehicle, causing no injuries and minor damage, before again attempting to hit a security guard with her vehicle.

The woman drove in circles around the parking lot for ten minutes as police tried to stop her vehicle, authorities said. Police then used a vehicle disabling device and other containment strategies to slow her vehicle. The woman then exited the vehicle, and police detained her.

The woman was booked into San Mateo County Jail on suspicion of three counts of assault with a deadly weapon and one count of evading a peace officer.
