The vehicle hit the young teen as he rode it through an intersection at Lone Tree Way and Muirwood Way.

The 24-year-old man driving the SUV remained at the scene, spoke with officers, and police said it does not appear drugs, alcohol or speeding played a role in the collision.

In a statement, police Lt. Matthew Koch said officers witnessed the wreck about 6:45 p.m. According to Koch, the man drove the Nissan Pathfinder west on Lone Tree Way and was going through the Muirwood Way intersection while the teen was going north on his bike.

Police still were investigating how the two wound up colliding.

The teen was on the ground and unresponsive when medics arrived, Koch said. A medical helicopter took the boy to an undisclosed hospital, where he remained in critical but stable condition, he said.

The investigation is ongoing.
