
Meet the chief
Sunnyvale’s Department of Public Safety, or DPS, is hosting a meet and greet with recently appointed Public Safety Chief Daniel Pistor on Tuesday, Aug. 12, 4:30-5 p.m., at Sunnyvale City Hall, 456 W. Olive Ave., in front of the council chambers. Light refreshments will be provided.
The City selected Pistor to replace retired chief Phan Ngo in June. A 22-year veteran of Sunnyvale DPS, Pistor has held numerous leadership roles in the department. In his new role, he leads a team of 293 personnel across police, fire and emergency medical services.
Tech Business Expo
The City of Sunnyvale and the Sunnyvale Downtown Association are hosting a free Tech Business Expo on Thursday, Aug. 14, 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m., along the 100 block of South Murphy Avenue in downtown Sunnyvale.
The expo features new products and technology developed in Sunnyvale, demos of robots and drones and innovations in healthcare technology. Participants include Ceribell Inc., the Fremont High School robotics team, Harman Becker Automotive, Inbybob LLC, Maker Nexus, Matternet, Polar Labs, Plug and Play, Straiker Inc., Waymo and XREAL .

Civic survey
The League of Women Voters of Cupertino-Sunnyvale is helping develop a new civic leadership training program designed to prepare future board members, commissioners and changemakers in Silicon Valley.
The program, a partnership between De Anza College and local civic organizations, is currently in the design phase. Organizers created a short survey to gather feedback from potential participants and community leaders to help shape the program for launch.
