Richmond: Man gets 100 years to life for murder

RICHMOND — A man who has been arrested on suspicion of murder for times was sentenced last week to 100 years to life, this time for murdering a man in 2022.

Bobby Dee Dozier, 39, was sentenced for murdering 26-year-old Emari Cook on July 14, 2022, near South 49th Street and Cutting Boulevard in Richmond. Police say that Cook purchased pizza with his girlfriend at a Little Caesars on San Pablo Avenue and was walking home when Dozier pulled up behind them in a Cadillac, asked, “is that you,” and opened fire.

Dozier was convicted of first degree murder earlier this year. During the investigation into Cook’s killing, police tied a phone to Dozier that was registered under the name “Freddy Kruger” (sic), according to court records.

In 2005, Dozier was arrested on suspicion of murder, but never charged. Then, two years later, he was arrested in the 2007 killing of 42-year-old Oscar Alejandre in Richmond, according to court records and media reports at the time.

For Aleandre’s killing, he was given a 15-year prison sentence. In September 2021, he was discharged from parole, authorities said.
