Joseph Cebuano, 18, and Yairo Palomino, 19, were charged with murdering 33-year-old Gilbert Malik Cross in a June 27 shooting on the 2100 block of International Boulevard in Oakland. They’re also charged in connection with a nonfatal shooting and robbery that occurred a week earlier, court records show.
Police said in court filings the two were identified as suspects “through electronic surveillance, statements, and physical evidence.” Cross and a second victim were inside a Mercedes when at around 9:30 p.m., Palomino allegedly opened fire into the car, authorities said. When the Mercedes attempted to speed off, Cebuano allegedly shot at it, according to court documents.
Both men were arrested at their Antioch homes in early July, and have been held at Santa Rita Jail in Dublin, without bail, ever since, court records show. They’re next due in court on Thursday for an arraignment.
