
OAKLAND — A man was fatally shot in East Oakland at 3:40 a.m. Sunday morning. Law enforcement investigators are trying to confirm the identity of the victim, authorities said.
Oakland police found the man outside along the 900 block of 84th Avenue with at least one gunshot wound after gunfire caused a detection system alert.
Officers provided emergency medical aid, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene. A motive for the killing is under investigation.
Currently, no arrests have been made.
The killing is the 41st homicide investigated by Oakland police this year. At this point last year, police had investigated 53 homicides in the city.
