Pittsburg sex offender picks up federal CSAM case

OAKLAND — Less than two years after his child pornography conviction, a Pittsburg man has picked up a new case, this time in federal court.

Jamie Nunez Hernandez, 40, was charged with possessing material depicting a child being sexually abuse, a federal offense that’s based on a Dec. 23, 2024 search of Nunez Hernandez’s home, according to the criminal complaint. Since October 2023, Nunez Hernandez has been subjected to searches at his Pittsburg residence due to a prior conviction for possessing child pornography.

In the 2023 case, Pleasant Hill police found Nunez Hernandez asleep in his car, with a gun on the floor and a phone containing child sexual abuse material in his possession, while a female companion shoplifted from a nearby Kohl’s, court records show.

During the 2024 search, authorities found videos showing children “as young as approximately one years old being sexually abused in various ways,” including rape and sodomy, the criminal complaint alleges.

Nunez Hernandez appeared in court on July 22 and waived his right to a detention hearing, assuring he will be in jail until further notice, records show. His next court date has been set for August.
