
OAKLAND — A 23-year-old man was fatally shot in East Oakland Wednesday night, authorities said.
His name and place of residence have not yet been released pending notification of his family.

The shooting happened about 7:37 p.m. outside in the 9400 block of C Street, police said
The man was shot by at least one suspect who may have fled in a vehicle.
The man was taken to a hospital where he died a short time later, authorities said.
A motive for the killing is under investigation. No arrests have been made and no suspect information was released.
The killing is the 39th homicide investigated by Oakland police this year. Last year at this time police had investigated 50 homicides in the city.
