Vallejo suffers 8th homicide of year

The City of Vallejo suffered its eighth homicide of the year on Saturday when a woman was shot near the 400 block of Admiral Callaghan Lane.

According to a Vallejo Police Department news release, at approximately 1:36 a.m. on that Saturday., the Vallejo Fire Department found an unconscious female on the 400 block of Admiral Callaghan Lane. The female was transported to a local hospital for medical attention, when they found at least one gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced deceased at 12:32 p.m. that day.

The female’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin by the Solano County Coroner’s Office.

The Vallejo Police Department Detective Division ultimately took over this investigation. The Neighborhood Impact Team also responded and provided trauma-informed outreach and connected affected residents with critical support resources.

The motive and circumstances surrounding this shooting are currently under investigation.

This is the first homicide in Vallejo sine June 20, when a 65-year-old man was shot and killed on the 2100 block of Griffin Drive. Vallejo’s homicide count is down so far in 2025 after it suffered 25 homicides in 2024.
