The crash on Ygnacio Valley Road near N. Broadway on June 29 killed 24-year-old Evan Lonsdale. The Contra Costa Sheriff’s Office identified him publicly.

Walnut Creek police said Lonsdale lost control of the vehicle about 2:15 a.m. and ended up hitting a tree in a parking lot in the 600 block of Ygnacio Valley Road. He died at the scene.

The fire did not spread from the car to any of the other buildings. Contra Costa Fire Protection District crews put out the flames.
