Ride share driver takes phone, wallet left in car by Saratoga residents

Stolen license plate: Between June 15 and 19, someone stole the rear license plate from a Saratoga resident’s vehicle.

Misappropriation of lost property: Between 10:30 p.m. and 11 p.m., the victims used a ride share service to get to their home in the 18000 block of Vanderbilt Drive and left a cellular phone and a wallet in the car, which was misappropriated by the driver for a loss valued at approximately $1,150.

June 25

Mail theft, check forgery: Between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., someone stole checks mailed out from the dropbox at the US Post Office on Allendale Avenue and then altered and attempted to cash two checks. The account was frozen, and no financial loss was reported. The victim lives in Saratoga.

June 26

Residential burglary: Between 6:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m., someone entered a residence in the 20000 block of Chalet Lane by breaking a rear sliding glass door. Details of any stolen property were not reported.

Residential burglary: At 10:22 p.m., someone entered a residence in the 19000 block of Via Madronas Court through an unlocked rear door and stole keys and a wallet for a loss valued at approximately $230.

June 27

Assault, battery, false imprisonment, vandalism, resist/delay peace officer: At 6:36 p.m., deputies responded to a disturbance at a residence in the 13000 block of Shadow Oaks Way. An investigation revealed the suspect prevented the victim’s freedom of movement, pushed and shook the victim and smashed the victim’s cellular phone, for a loss valued at approximately $699. The suspect resisted but was ultimately arrested and booked into juvenile hall.

June 28

Vehicle theft: At 2:16 a.m., two suspects worked together to steal a vehicle parked in the 20000 block of Verde Vista Lane. The unoccupied vehicle, valued at approximately $10,000, was recovered several hours later in Gilroy.

June 29

Reckless evading: At 10:44 p.m., deputies initiated a vehicle enforcement stop and attempted to contact the driver of a vehicle with a stolen license plate parked in the Argonaut Shopping Center on Saratoga-Sunnyvale Road, but the driver did not yield, evaded the stop and drove off at a high rate of speed. Deputies did not pursue the vehicle in the interest of public safety.
