
FREMONT – A person was shot and killed Tuesday morning in Fremont, police said.

Officers were called to Northport Loop West, near Cushing Parkway, at 10:37 p.m. for a report of a person with a gunshot wound, according to the Fremont Police Department.
The victim received medical aid at the scene and was taken to an area hospital, where they later died, police said.
Police did not identify the victim. The death marks the city’s second homicide of the year.
Officers detained a possible suspect near the scene, according to police.
In an update Tuesday afternoon, police said the scene remained active and asked people to avoid the area.
“At this time, there is no known, active threat to the community,” police said in the update. “We plan to provide updates to this investigation as more information becomes available.”
