Union City’s Ocean restaurant expands to Redwood City

Raw and cooked oysters, steak, prawns, poke, calamari and more are among the menu items on offer at Redwood City’s Ocean Oyster Bar and Grill, located on Broadway.

The restaurant, which opened in March, is an expansion for a Union City-based restaurant of the same name. It’s in the spacious location of the former Spaghetti Factory, and was a long time coming — it was initially expected to open as soon as March 2024.

Starting this week, the restaurant has begun to offer a happy hour service Mondays through Thursdays 4:30-6:30 p.m. and Fridays from 2-6 p.m., according to general manager Yolanda Marquez.

Additionally, on Mondays it offers $3 cooked oysters; on Tuesdays, $1.95 raw oysters; and on Wednesdays, shrimp or fish tacos for $3.45 each.

Beyond the oysters on offer, the branzino, Cajun pasta with prawns, and ahi poke salad are favorites, Marquez says. The lunch service has smaller servings and lower prices, she says.
