Give blood, get a Metallica T-shirt: Here are the details, metal fans

Metallica is coming our way.

And, as usual, that means that the top-selling Bay Area band of all time is planning to do something to help out the local community.

That’s what Metallica does, pretty much every place it plays, through its All Within My Hands Foundation charitable organization.

This time around — in advance of the two giant Metallica shows on Friday and Sunday (June 20 and 22) at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara — the metal act is partnering with the American Red Cross for a blood drive.

It will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 18, also at Levi’s Stadium.

“This drive is one of many taking place at select U.S. tour locations this summer to urge fans to give blood and help ensure patients never have to wait for critical, lifesaving care,” reads a news release sent out by the American Red Cross. “By rolling up a sleeve to give, the Metallica family can help trauma victims, those facing cancer, new mothers, people living with sickle cell disease and so many more.”

As an added bonus, donors will receive a limited-edition Red Cross X Metallica T-shirt (while supplies last) at the blood drive.

Metallica ranks as one of the top-selling acts in music history, having sold well over 150 million album during a career that dates back to the early 1980s.

Metallica is currently out on the road with its lengthy M72 World Tour, which kicked off in April 2023 and is just now making its way to the Bay Area.

It will be a “no-repeat weekend,” as Metallica promises to perform completely different set lists on Friday and Sunday at Levi’s Stadium.

Opening acts are Limp Bizkit and Ice Nine Kills on Friday and then Pantera and Suicidal Tendencies on Sunday. So, in other words, make sure to arrive early enough on Sunday to catch the opening acts.

Metallica is touring in support of its 11th studio album, “72 Seasons.”
