CUPERTINO — El Camino Hospital has bought an office building from a farming company in a deal that gives the health care services provider a foothold along a busy street in Cupertino.

The medical firm paid $10.4 million for an office building at 19400 Stevens Creek Boulevard in Cupertino, according to documents filed on June 2 with the Santa Clara County Recorder’s Office.

Yuki Farms sold the building to El Camino Hospital, which has on occasion bought properties as it prepares for future growth.

Separately, in recent years, El Camino Hospital launched a wide-ranging upgrade of its women’s health and maternity facilities at its big medical campus in Mountain View.

The just-bought Cupertino office building totals about 20,100 square feet, according to the LoopNet commercial database service.

Each floor in the two story building is slightly over 10,000 square feet.

It wasn’t immediately known what El Camino Hospital’s intentions are for the office building, which is of a size that could accommodate medical offices.

El Camino Hospital’s new property holding is on a stretch of Stevens Creek Boulevard that’s dotted with shops and restaurants.

A few blocks to the east, Apple occupies several big office buildings, including two in Cupertino and one in Santa Clara. Apple’s spaceship headquarters campus in Cupertino is less than two miles away.

El Camino Hospital has bought other properties in recent years.

In 2016, the hospital organization paid $23.4 million for 15.8 empty acres near the corner of Santa Teresa Boulevard and San Ygnacio Avenue.

In 2014, El Camino Hospital bought some medical office buildings near its Los Gatos health services campus.
