The initial round of funding will go toward rental fees and production costs for Rolling Hills Middle School’s winter production and Monroe Middle School and Campbell School of Innovation’s combined spring production. The Friends have also established a scholarship fund with $5,000 to fund students’ participation.

Funding for these programs is coming from donations to the Friends and profits from concession sales at the Heritage Theatre.

Martha de Ojeda of the Campbell Union School District said the program “will provide our students with an exceptional opportunity to perform on a professional stage.”

Samantha Ince, president of the Friends group, said the program is aimed at “local youth and those that may otherwise be unable to experience the magic that is the historic Heritage Theatre.”

Closed for repairs

Stanford Blood Center (SBC) has temporarily closed its South Bay Donation Center at 295 E. Hamilton Ave. in Campbell as of June 3 to make plumbing repairs.

During renovations, SBC is opening a temporary platelet donation center at 50 E. Hamilton Ave., Suite 200 in Campbell starting June 4.

Appointments are required to https://sbcdonor.org/donor/schedules/zip, or by calling 888-723-7831 or texting to 999-777.

The South Bay center is SBC’s busiest donation site, and SBC will be increasing the number of mobile blood drives in the South Bay in June and July to help offset the impact of the temporary closure.

Everyone who donates during the month of June will receive two tickets to an upcoming San Francisco Giants game. For a list of available games, visit https://stanfordbloodcenter.org/giantsdays
