Welcome to the Bay Area News Group (Mercury News & East Bay Times) boys Athlete of the Week poll.
For the entire academic year, we will provide a list of candidates who stood out over the previous week and allow you, the reader, to vote for the winner.
This week, we consider performances from May 26-31.
Polls close at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
Vote as many times as you’d like until then without using bots or any other artificial methods of voting.
Votes by email and after 5 p.m. Wednesday are not counted.

Winners are announced each Friday online and in the print edition of the Mercury News and East Bay Times sports sections.

We accept nominations until 11 a.m. each Monday.
We also review stats submitted to MaxPreps by coaches/team statisticians.
On to the nominees:
Prince Buchango-Babalola, St. Ignatius track and field: Buchango-Babalola won the boys 200-meter dash in 20.79 at the CIF state track and field championships in Clovis.
Logan Donoviel, St. Mary’s-Berkeley baseball: Donoviel struck out seven and allowed two hits across five innings in St. Mary’s 3-1 win over Swett in the NCS Division VI championship game.
Jaden Jefferson, De La Salle track and field: Jefferson set the state record in the 100 with a 10.01 finish in the prelims at the CIF track and field championships. He then went on to take first place in the finals, crossing the finish line in 10.27.
Nolan Jess, California baseball: Jess went 2 for 3 and knocked in two runs to lead California to a 6-1 win over Marin Catholic in the NCS Division III finals. California (16-11) will travel to Roseville for its CIF NorCal Division III first round game on Tuesday.
John Kepner, Santa Clara baseball: The senior totaled two hits and three RBIs to lead Santa Clara past St. Francis-Wastonville in a 8-0 win in the CCS Division IV title game. Santa Clara improved to 27-3 and will host Oakland Tech in the first round of the CIF NorCal Division IV playoffs on Tuesday.
Quinten Marsh, Valley Christian baseball: Marsh struck out seven and gave up three hits across 4 ⅓ innings to lead Valley Christian to a 4-2 win in the CCS Division I semifinals. Valley Christian (25-7-1) will play at St. Mary’s-Stockton in the first round of the CIF NorCal Division I playoffs on Tuesday.
Aaron Minton, Serra baseball: The sophomore knocked in two runs in Serra’s 3-2 win over Valley Christian in the CCS Division I championship. Serra will host College Park in the first round of the CIF Division I playoffs on Tuesday.

Khaliq Muhammad, Pittsburg track and field: Muhammad broke the state-meet record in the boys pole vault at the CIF track and field championships, winning in 17-10 ½.
James Stadt, Acalanes baseball: Stadt went 3 for 4 and totaled three RBIs in Acalanes 7-1 win over Rancho Cotate in the NCS Division II championship game. Acalanes, which improved to 17-10-1, will travel to Chico for its CIF NorCal Division II first round game.
Liam Widner, Menlo baseball: Widner, a freshman, was 3 for 4 and knocked in a run in Menlo’s 5-4 win over Monterey in the CCS Division V finals. Menlo (21-8) will travel to Las Lomas for its CIF NorCal Division IV first round game on Tuesday.
